Debug Information Guide
This article outlines how to provide debugger information so the issues can be diagnosed. The app constantly logs messages during run time. To see the issue the app must be used during the point of failure so that the actual issue is written to the log.
Follow one of the two options below to get started.
Cannot Connect to Vehicle
- Connect your OBD2 adapter to your vehicle and turn on your key to its ON state.
- Open FourStroke App
- Connect your iPhone to your OBD2 adapter. Make sure your phone is not set to airplane mode.
For Wi-Fi Adapters:
– Tap Connection and make sure that Wi-Fi is selected from the list.
– Connect your phone to your OBD2 adapter’s wireless network from your iPhone Settings app. The name of the network varies across manufacturers.
For Bluetooth Adapters:
– Tap Connection and make sure that Bluetooth LE (4.0) is set
– Tap the ⓘ next to Bluetooth LE (4.0)
– Select your dongle listed within detected devices (do not connect from iPhone Settings app) - Go back to the Home Screen.
- Observe the Connection icon, it should flash yellow during attempts to talk to your vehicle.
- Wait for the icon to become red then continue back to yellow and red once more. If a red icon is never seen, wait 1 minute before proceeding.
- Navigate to Connection.
- Make sure Wi-Fi is selected and then tap the ⓘ next to Wi-Fi even if you are on Bluetooth
- Scroll to the bottom of the screen.
- Tap and Hold on the Send Report (this button may be greyed out which is normal).
- A new screen will appear after a few seconds of holding containing debug output.
- Before sending this report ensure that the email was the email you contacted our support address from so this email can be linked to the support request. If not add your other email to the subject.

Connection Succeeds but Features Broken/Incorrect
- Connect your OBD2 adapter to your vehicle and turn on your key to its ON state.
- Open FourStroke App
- Connect your iPhone to your OBD2 adapter.
- Ensure Wi-Fi or Bluetooth (depending on your adapter) is set under Connection from the main menu
- Go back to the Home Screen and validate your connection icon is blue (for Bluetooth) or green (for Wi-Fi)
- Navigate to the area of concern and repeat the issue you had earlier. For example:
- If the issue is with clearing codes, attempt to clear the codes
- If the issue is with reading sensor data, view a screen that should provide data and wait for 15-30 seconds
- A good screen for generating debug data is Diagnostics -> Current Data
- If a specific sensor is having issues a good screen is the Dashboard utilising a single gauge screen set to the problematic sensor.
- Navigate to the Home Screen
- Navigate to Connection
- Make sure Wi-Fi is selected and then tap the ⓘ next to Wi-Fi even if you are on Bluetooth
- Scroll to the bottom of the screen
- Tap and Hold on the Send Report (this button may be greyed out which is normal).
- A new screen will appear after a few seconds of holding containing debug output.
- Before sending this report ensure that the email was the email you contacted our support address from so this email can be linked to the support request. If not add your other email to the subject.
